A draft of the master plan for downtown Columbia was released on April 28, 2008. It will be shared in a public meeting at the Spear Center and posted on this site. General Growth Properties (GGP) encouraged the participation of all interested Howard County residents in the formation of this plan. This collaborative process resulted in a plan for downtown Columbia that was shaped by the ideas of its citizens and brought to life by GGP's planning team.
The first draft of the plan, which followed the County's framework plan, was followed by sustained collaboration, village-by-village, focusing on each concern and the collective determination for a better Columbia.
After the announcement of the draft, there were a number of public meetings and open forums at which members of the community asked questions and shared ideas with GGP's planning team.
